10,000 steps a
day program to return in 2009
Walking is one of the easiest ways to improve
your health. A regular fitness regimen of
walking can lead to reduced blood pressure,
reduce the risk of strokes or heart attacks,
help manage your weight and enable you to sleep
better.
In 2007, the County Health Plan unveiled the
10,000 Steps-A-Day program, a fitness regimen
designed to encourage you to begin a regular exercise
program to improve your fitness.
The 10,000 Steps-A-Day Program is simple for
employees to use. The next round begins Jan. 1,
2009
and will last 24 weeks. If you participated last year, please
keep tracking your steps at the Web site. You will be eligible
for the prize drawings after eight, 16 and 24
weeks.
You will not receive a new pedometer unless you
need a replacement. Each new person signing up
to participate in the program will receive a pedometer to count
their steps. Log your steps via the web site,
and you will be eligible for prizes and other
incentives when you reach specific milestones.
The County Lifestyles Program is a complement to
the various disease management programs offered
through the County Health Plan.
